for ocean conservation

Mission

We aim to create tangible ecological impact through integrating local knowledge and perspectives into scientific, political and economic discourse. Co-creating by design, debiasing by default, ethically scaling.

Benthos origins

Rooted in the experiences of someone whose community was severely impacted by a polluted bay, "Benthos" is inspired by the foundational role of benthic organisms in marine ecosystems, supporting the base for our collaborative mission to drive marine conservation forward through shared knowledge, technology, and community involvement.

Our series

Roots and Algorithms

From the shores of Arraial do Cabo, a new voice rises for ocean conservation. Lucas Pereira, our Brazilian Representative, is an oceanographer and mangrove specialist from a family that has artisanally fished these waters for generations! Our series begins here, exploring how science, technology, and traditional knowledge converge to empower coastal communities in Brazil.

How can tech help?

In this episode of our "How can tech help" series, our Philippines representative, Natalia Olfindo, visits the Alon and Araw Club to explore how their community-led ocean conservation efforts are powered by technology. From surfing to recycling initiatives, discover how innovation is making a difference in the fight to protect our ocean!
